What Are Intruder Alarm Systems
A device on a building that gives a warning such as a loud noise or flashing light, or tells the Police, if someone tries to enter the building illegally.
Bells only/local audible
A system which, once activated, creates a local alarm condition at the premises, usually with an external and internal siren – designed to create an instant deterrent when activated.
Remote App notification/operation
View your alarm status from anywhere using an App. Arm and disarm your system and be alerted should the alarm activate.
Door contact
A device designed to detect the opening of a door
Wired/wireless
A range of systems are available depending on the nature of the premises/property to be protected. Wireless systems are less intrusive, negating the requirement to install wires to each device. Hybrid system allow use of cabling and wireless technology simultaneously.
Monitored
A system remotely monitored, usually on a 24/7 basis, allowing a response to be generated in the event of an alarm activation. Communication is by telephone line, internet network or mobile network. Redcare, WebWay and Dual-Com are amongst UK providers.
Police response
A system with remote monitoring that has the capability to offer Police response in the event of an activation.
External siren
A device that offers a visual deterrent to the premises and generates a visual and audible alert in the event of system activation.
PIR detector
A device designed to detect movement from within a secure area
Existing installation/upgrade:

Smoke/Fog Devices
A device used in conjunction with an alarm to provide ‘fogging’ of predetermined areas. A fogging device is designed to protect valuable assets by ensuring intruders can’t see them.

Systems required for installation under insurers requirements – this may include a requirement to have a monitored solution. Some installed systems provide for a lowering of home/business insurance premiums
